Wisdom covers Draft Dodger Rag by Phil Ochs

This is great. I found an old cut of an old song that reminds me just how long I've been doing this.

A cover of an old Phil Ochs tune from 1965. Played by Wisdom, my duo in San Diego with Hugh Bodurtha. I started playing this song in 1969 or so. I've been doing this a while.

We thought we were so cool. This was our business card, how arrogant is that?

I'm pretty sure this cut is from a party we played in San Diego. This was the flyer. It was attended by a bunch of marines and a bunch of local bikers. Everyone got absolutely hammered. By the time we got here they were all singing along, falling down, laughing and huggin' each others red necks.

I'm not sure what made us play this song for all those patriotically drunk soldiers but we did and they loved it. It was great getting paid gigs like this and we were living our best life. Protest songs haven't changed much over the years, change some names out of this one and somewhere in the world it could be sung today. Thanks Phil for this timeless classic.

This was back when I could still try for those high harmonies... those were the days. My voice these days is a shotgun not a sniper rifle but if need be I can cut you with my tongue.

Enjoy! Stay tuned!
