My Project Circle

OK, this is funny. In my Sunday CHURCH thread on Facebook. I was teasing somebody who's "something good" was that they'd cleared several of their unfinished projects. Though I was happy for them, I looked around at my unfinished projects and heaved a deep sigh. The list is seemingly endless.

Our current plan is to downsize our stuff pile. We are selling off a bunch of junk and listing our California properties for sale very soon. Packing the other stuff up for a move to somewhere else. We think we've invested well and are looking forward to our new adventure.

The monumental task of paring down the pile we had collected after 25 years in Elsinore has been ongoing since we left several years ago. We are sorting and saving and packing the stuff we want, selling and donating things we don't. All the while living a minimalistic lifestyle at our tiny apartment in the city.

Our office is in the same building and is currently full of boxes and furniture and huge speakers and rolls of carpet and all manner of crazy things I have collected over the years. It is here where the work is and my desk is by the door. Here I sort, test, fix, build, draw, make, dismantle and create stuff. It is also where I practice my guitar.

This is the problem. It is also the "funny" thing. I was teasing my friend in that thread, saying to her:

"I have carved a circle in the middle of my projects where I can
sit and play my guitar with my eyes closed so I can't see them."

I laughed out loud and then laughed again when I read it to Wakitu. I was so proud of my "joke." It would be so like me. As I walked away from the computer I looked back at my desk. It seems I have done exactly that and didn't even know it. It's a little embarrasing, I admit it, to show you my messy private workspace but it made me laugh at myself and that is always a good thing. You may not be able to tell by the look of it but this is where stuff gets done. Ooooh look... a guitar...
