I could not be more pleased with how this turned out.
A while back I glommed some free cabinets on Craigslist. They had fancy hand painted doors that we weren't gonna use and I hated to through them out. So I put em on CL and sold them cheap. The fella that showed up was a very cool local artist and we hit it off and talked about the business and entertainment in LA.
So I was bragging about my killer lights deal. Remember all those lights we found. II take him downstairs and we check em out, marveling at the vintage gear and newer stuff side by side. Of course all of them are sort of obsolete but he appreciates the unique opportunity I found.
A few days later he calls and though it took a minute he came back with his partner today and I sold him a bunch of lights. To paraphrase a bit it was an hilarious excess of want not need.
You could HEAR the wheels turning in their lil heads as they discussed what to get. We matched lights with barn doors and found all the scrims and they ran to the bank for money. It is so fun to have visual artists be so visibly excited by some silly props. The potential of ol'skool lights you could never afford or really need back in the day at 50 bucks a pop. lol they were positively vibrating.
I stalked their website and googled some shit... they are amazing artists. Truly. https://www.bosafilm.com/reel/
I can't wait to see what they do with them. I sold him six baby2ks and then I gave him a 5k and a whole box of 2'x3' gel film in different colors.
So remember those lights I wanted a few of that I found on the side of the road? Yeah I just sold some for 300 bucks and got to keep the ones I wanted, we blessed the scrap guy with some and I only have 6 to get rid of.
oh, and I get to keep a big ol' 5k to make into a mailbox for the enchanted mountain house.
