It’s Not What You’ve Lost

I wrote the music for this when I was about sixteen, added lyrics in my twenties and played this song all over San Diego with Wisdom. What fun we had. Originally it was part of the “The Feel the Evil Suite.” A suite in 4 movements for electric guitar and amp. Full of rock and sound effects:D Gosh I was cool.

It’s not what you’ve lost but what you’ve got left that counts
Not what you’ve lost but what you’ve learned on the bounce
Open your eyes and learn how to see
Your dreams can come true
if you set your mind free

What happens to the dreams you dream every night
Are they left upon your pillow till they’re allowed to take flight
Come on now, don’t be slow
You have to live your dreams
not dream your lives you know

Chorus:
So often I’ve seen you
unhappy in your lives
And it makes me sad to see you
You treat yourself like I used to treat me

It’s not what you’ve lost but what you’ve got left that counts
Not what you’ve lost but what you’ve learned on the bounce
Come on now, don’t be slow
You have to live your dreams
not dream your life you know
