The weekend of the 4th of July brought some interesting things that “just happened.” This is one of those moments.

Now follow me here, it gets confusing.

While IDEA!ography’s Ed and his son, Josh, filmed and got things ready for the next band, Frank and his son, Nathan, of “Rusty Bone Blues Band” can be seen tuning up in “guitar-dude’s corner” back on the left. Ready to go on is their drummer, Mark, and his son who sat in later. At the same time, stage right, it appears that one of Jam’s “lil women” is having a serious conversation ("OK, you start a slow 4/4 with my sister then I’ll come up and jam?") with Doug, who is one of the four brothers in the “Wilderness Souls.” Zach and his Dad are hanging around with brothers Mark and Shaun, all from “Rural Oddities” who played earlier.

The crowd was getting restless as Jam of J.A.A.M Kwest took the mic. Now, singing on stage is one thing. Being on stage, by yourself, singing a cappella while being heckled, and then winning the crowd over and knocking ‘em dead is another. Add two of your lil darlings (and Doug) on percussion and you have a memory, my friend.

My neighborhood full of families eating hot dogs by campfires and celebrating our independence got a taste of Bob Marley’s Songs of Freedom. They swayed and sang along and when I stopped and stood still for a moment . . . the scene before me will always be a painting in my mind.

The families, the guitars, old folks and young folks, lil kids twirling and drumming, and people swaying in the wind of the moment. As Jam said, “being together and that’s it.”
