Shane O’Brien of O’Brien’s Edge was one of the performers at the JAM at the CAM. After enjoying most of the weekend in my back yard, we talked about a project we could do together.

O’Brien’s latest CD “Acoustic, Raw and Real” has been nominated for “Acoustic Album of the Year 2009″ as part of the 19th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards.

He has been invited to perform and receive his nomination at a special showcase in September. He has asked us to help build the bigscreen background show that will play behind him, combining video and images to pay tribute to America’s troops past, present and future while he plays the song live. We also plan a shoot of a somewhat more organized version we will play together on our stage in front of our screen for a title on Shane’s next DVD. I am honored to be asked to perform and we are gearing up to rock the screen.

This is the first time I heard the song. I just wanted to get a feel for it as we talked about the project. As usual when I am trying to understand a song that I don’t know, I find the key by ear and run scales over it to get an idea of the progression. This turned into a really fun JAM. One of the highlights of a great weekend of music, fun and fireworks.

Video Shoot in Lake Elsinore, CA. August 1st, a song chosen from our first CD - “The Genuine One” ©2008. Track title: “What’s Up with That?” written by Shane O’Brien ….

There are two ways to get involved in this video production: 1) Supply a Photo 2) Make a Personal Appearance to the set…..

1) Shane is looking for photo images to display on a projector screen that is to be displayed in the background as a special acoustic performance of “What’s Up with That?” is videotaped. This is a tribute song dedicated to our brave men and women in any branch of service.
